On May 4, the Kubuntu developers had the pleasure of informing their users about the immediate availability of the recently announced KDE Applications 15.04 software suite for the Kubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) operating system.

The KDE Apps 15.04 packages are now ready in the official Kubuntu Backports PPA (Personal Package Archive), allowing Kubuntu 15.04 users to upgrade the default KDE Applications 14.12 that ships with the distribution.

"Packages for the release of KDE Applications 15.04 are available for Kubuntu 15.04. You can get it from the Kubuntu Backports PPA," was stated in the announcement. "Bugs in the packaging should be reported to kubuntu-ppa on Launchpad. Bugs in the software to KDE."

Those of you who run Kubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) can update today to the KDE Applications 15.04 software suite. For this, open the Konsole terminal emulator and run the following commands, one by one, hitting the Enter key after each one.

code
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade
Wait for each command to finish before adding the next. After the upgrade, you will have to reboot your computer in order for the KDE Applications 15.04 packages to be applied correctly. That's it, your Kubuntu 15.04 installation runs the latest KDE Apps 15.04.
