The Kubuntu developers announced a few minutes ago, December 5, that the recently released KDE 4.9.4 desktop environment is now ready for all Kubuntu 12.10 and Kubuntu 12.04 LTS operating systems.

KDE SC 4.9.4 was also released today, December 5, and it is the last maintenance release for the KDE 4.9 desktop environment, brining fixes for 71 submitted bugs.

Among the improved apps in KDE 4.9.4, we can mention the Kontact email and groupware client and the Dolphin file manager.

All Kubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) and Kubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) users can now update their KDE platform to version 4.9.4 using the provided PPA repositories:

For Kubuntu 12.04 LTS:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade For Kubuntu 12.10:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Reboot your system when the update process is complete!
