MKVToolNix 6.9.1, a set of tools to create, alter, and inspect Matroska files under Linux and other platforms, is now out and available for download.

The MKVToolNix developers have been working pretty hard on this software and they have implemented quite a few fixes and improvements.

According to the changelog, a huge memory usage bug has been fixed, a failed assertion in libEBML that occurred when writing the same changes twice to certain files has been corrected, reading fonts embedded in SSA/ASS files is no longer producing truncated attachments, and the display of very large IDs during attachment extraction is now working properly.

Also, the file type detection speed for text subtitle formats has been improved, the timestamp outliers are no longer ignored if they differ at least five minutes from the last valid timestamp, trailing zero bytes are now removed from AVC/h.264 NALUs, the timestamp assignment for AVC/h.264 videos is now working correctly, and a number of translations have been updated.

With MKVToolNix, users can get information about (mkvinfo) Matroska files, extract tracks/data from (mkvextract) Matroska files, and create (mkvmerge) Matroska files from other media files.

A complete changelog can be found in the official announcement. You can download MKVToolNix 6.9.1 right now from Softpedia.
