Yorba Foundation, the developers of Shotwell, have announced the immediate availability for download of Shotwell 0.19.0.

Shotwell is now developed in collaboration with the elementary OS team. It will become the default image viewer for the elementary Linux distro, but it's also a part of the GNOME desktop. This means that it will still get updated along with the all the other intermediary GNOME versions.

According to the team, support has been added for the Rajce.net and Gallery 3 photo services, it's now possible to set the background image for the lock screen, the detection of corrupt images during import has been improved, and some Flickr publishing errors due to Flickr moving to HTTPS-only have been fixed.

Also, a crash that occurred when updating the photo date/time has been fixed, a crash due to nested tags and due to the changing of the sidebar selection has been corrected, the URLs now point to new gnome.org pages, and numerous bug fixes have been added.

A complete list of changes and new features can be found in the official announcement. You can download Shotwell 0.19.0 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
