Famous digital photo management application for KDE and Linux digiKam 4.2.0, which includes an image editor for photo corrections and manipulation, is now available for download.

The digiKam collection of tools has been updated, but this is a very small upgrade in the series and only a couple of new features have been implemented.

According to the changelog, a new view on the left sidebar has been added to help users quickly search items with assigned Labels, and a new option has been added to show items with no tag.

“These features have been introduced by Mohamed Anwer Google Summer of Code project which have been completed in time and judged ready for production. As usual, we have worked hard to close your reported issues since the previous stable release 4.1.0,” reads the official announcement.

As usual, the applications can be downloaded for all available platforms, namely Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. The project is still highly dependent on KDE, but it can work independently of it if the user so chooses.

It's advisable that you wait for your distribution to adopt the software into the official repositories, which might take a while.

The complete changelog for digiKam can be found on the official website. You can download digiKam 4.2.0 right now from Softpedia.
