Fotoxx 14.08, a free, open source Linux photo editing and collection management program that’s easy to use and install, is now available for download.

The Fotoxx developers provide numerous updates for their application, and even if not all of them are very important, it's a good idea to get the new version of the software.

According to the changelog, the user interface for creating or replacing a collection has been improved, images within a collection can now be rearranged by dragging thumbnails, random waviness is now added to an image or selected areas with the “Make Waves” effect, the Undo/Redo button combined with the “A” key becomes Undo/Redo all edits, metadata editing in RAW images is now allowed, and a few non-obvious dialog controls now have popup tips when hovering with the mouse.

The software is provided only for the Linux platform and the developer has been pretty clear why he chose to release the software only for this operating system.

“Linux (the entire ecosystem) has been suitable for non-geeks since about 2004. It works well, looks good, has superior security and freedom from malware, has thousands of applications covering almost every need, is adequately supported (online forums), and costs nothing,” says the maker of Fotoxx on his website.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can download Fotoxx 14.08 right now from Softpedia.
