Security-oriented, a lightweight Linux distribution Alpine Linux based on musl libc and Busybox, which make up the terminal, has been upgraded once more and is now available for download.

Not all the Linux distros feature a nice desktop environment ready to welcome new users with open arms. In fact, many of the Linux operating systems don't have a desktop environment and are controlled only from the terminal. The ones that do feature a nifty desktop can also be used from the terminal as well, for most of the basic stuff.

"The Alpine Linux project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 3.1.2 of its Alpine Linux operating system. This is a bugfix release of the v3.1 musl based branch. This release is based on the 3.14.30 kernel which has some critical security fixes," reads the official website.

According to the changelog, docker 1.4.1 has been implemented, PHP has been upgraded to version 5.6.4, Wine 1.7.35 is now available as well, and the latest OpenSSL package (1.0.1k) has been added.

The complete changelog can be found on the official website. You can download Alpine Linux 3.0.5 right now from Softpedia. The developer of the OS has extensive documentation on his website, if you feel that the distro is too complicated to use.
