PC-BSD, a BSD distribution with the goal to be an easy-to-install-and-use desktop operating system based on FreeBSD, is now at version 9.1 RC1.

Highlights of PC-BSD 9.1 RC1:

• The distribution is based on FreeBSD 9.1-RC1; • New functionality to the warden client has been added; • The shutdown scripts have been improved in order to insure unmount; • Active Directory / LDAP backend and GUI utility have been added; • A number of bugs relating to jail creation / management have been fixed; • Auto-enable the flash plugin when creating new users; • Some initial packages have been added to TrueOS, such as sudo / bash and others; • Window Maker startup issues have been repaired; • The Enlightenment (E17) desktop has been added as an unsupported meta-package.

Download PC-BSD 9.1 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
