Heldric – The legend of the shoemaker, a game that combines hack-n-slash and tower defense and that's being developed and published by Astral Byte, will arrive on Steam for Linux.

Heldric – The legend of the shoemaker is a new type of RPG that combines multiple genres into a single game. The developers managed to get their title through the Steam Greenlight program with flying colors, but the actual release date hasn't been unveiled yet.

“Do you enjoy hack-n-slash but longed for a bit more? Maybe you like city builder games but find them a bit boring? Here is a different take on the same old styles of game. A hack-n-slash without loot or endless level grinding. A city builder without resource management. A game where you don't play as an epic hero, but a humble shoemaker that must work together with villagers to defend against waves of attacks,” reads the official Steam website.

The game is a little bit more complex than you might think and, unlike a lot of indie titles, Heldric actually features decent graphics and some features that would make a lot of other studios jealous.

The engine of the game takes its toll on the system requirements. You will need at least a dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, a video card with at least 512 MB of RAM and compatible with Shader Model 3.0, and 1 GB of HDD space. Proprietary drivers are also a must.
