This is one of the most disturbing games ever made

Harvester, a disturbing adventure video game developed by DigiFX Interactive and published by Night Dive Studios, is now available on Steam for Linux.

This is actually a very disturbing game that was released way back in 1996 and it was supposed to be a horror title like any other. The reception was not stellar, but the developers did use full-motion video, a concept that was still in its infancy back then.

“You wake up one morning to a town full of strangers and inexplicable sights. You share your home with your not so perfect family and your supposed fiancée lives next door. Then you are plunged into a nightmare! Your fiancée is missing and you find a hideous bloody skull and spinal cord draped across her bed! Is it hers? What is going on? The only clue left behind is an engraved invitation for you to enter...” reads the official Steam website.

It’s not clear why the developers chose to make a Linux version so long after the initial release, but it’s now here and only for a measly price.

The system requirements are quite high for something so old: Ubuntu 13.04, a 1.0 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 100% OpenGL accelerated card or onboard graphics, and 2 GB of available space.

More details about Harvester can be found on the Steam website.
