Half-Life 2, a first-person shooter developed by Valve, initially released back in 2004 and recently ported on the Linux platform, has made its official debut on Steam.

Half-Life 2 has been in the Beta stages, on the Linux platform, for quite a while. Valve has updated it numerous times, and the latest update has marked the release of a stable version.

Highlights of the Half-Life 2 update:

• Half-Life 2 has been converted to the new SteamPipe content system, for optimized delivery of the game; • Support has been added for Linux operating systems; • Support has been added for Virtual Reality devices, in particular Oculus Rift; • Bug fixes contributed by community members have been implemented.

More details about this update can be found in the official announcement.

If you have played Half-Life 2 Beta, some of the save-game might not work. You should try to start a chapter from the beginning if the quick-save or the autosave doesn't load.
