Half-Life 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Valve that appeared back in 2004 and that has recently been ported to the Linux platform.

Porting a complex title such as Half-Life 2 is a very difficult task, and the developers have released a lot of updates. A new Beta version has been proposed by Valve.

Highlights of the latest Half-Life 2 Beta update:

• A problem that forced the character to move when sv_alternateticks was enabled has been fixed; • The damage indicators are now displaying correctly if users changed the resolution while playing; • The exploding glass effect in the Episode 1 introduction is now showing properly with HDR enabled; • Assorted SDK tool fixes have been implemented.

More details about this update can be found in the official announcement. To access this patch uses will need to opt in the Beta program of Half-Life 2, from the Properties menu.
