Gunslugs 2, a new 2D side scrolling arcade shooter that draws its inspiration from games like Contra, has been published on Steam and is also available for Linux users.

Gunslugs 2 is developed and published by a studio called Orangepixel. The makers of the game did a simultaneous release for all the platforms, including the Linux one, although it's not really a surprise given the fact that it's not using a terrible complicated graphics engine.

"The Black Duck Army is back with new domination plans, this time they want to take the galaxy! Their signal towers are covering the planet, and alien technology seems to be used all over the place Luckily the Gunslugs are here to stop them," is noted in the Steam synopsis.

The game features seven different worlds and each comes with 8 levels, which makes this a very long game. All levels end with boss fights, they have randomly generated areas, cutscene, and pretty much everything that you would want. It's also worth mentioning that this is a very hard game, just like they used to make them a decade ago.

The system requirements for the game are rather low. Players will need a 2.0 Ghz Dual Core processor, 2 GB RAM, at least an Intel HD3000 video card, and 200 MB of HDD space.

Mode details about this release can be found on the Steam website.
