Grml, a bootable live system (Live-CD) based on Debian which includes a collection of GNU/Linux apps designed for system administrators, has just reached version 2014.03 and is now available for download.

Grml is not a regular Linux distribution for regular users. It’s packed with a sysadmin's favorite tools and allows admins with packages for installation, deployment and system rescue. This latest version has been dubbed Ponywagon and it comes with a couple of interesting features.

"This Grml release provides fresh software packages from Debian testing (AKA jessie). As usual it also incorporates up2date hardware support and fixes known bugs from the previous Grml release," said developers Michael Prokop in the official announcement.

According to the release notes, a boot option called vlan has been added, the FIXED_DISK_IDENTIFIERS option has been implemented, the bridge-utils, cryptsetup, ifenslave and vlan packages are now available by default, and overriding the configuration via the environment variables is now allowed.

Also, the Grml distro is now based on Linux kernel 3.13.6 and a number of smaller problems noted by the community have been fixed.

A complete list of updates and fixes is available on the official website. You can download Grml 2014.03 right now from the developers.
