After having reported last month that the first Alpha version of the upcoming Mangaka Nyu Linux distribution was available for testing, we're now informing you about the immediate availability for download and testing of the Beta release.

Animesoft International has released earlier today the second milestone towards Mangaka Nyu, a free and GPL licensed Ubuntu and Debian-based operating system designed especially for anime and manga communities from all over the world.

"Maintaining the focus to a fast, beauty, complete and very customizable desktop, now with full support to Japanese language, bugfix in the whole system and software updates, we are proud to introduce you the BETA release of our system," says Animesoft International.

The distribution comes with professional free software pre-installed for fansubbing, fandubbing, 2D graphical creations, multimedia playback, and web browsing. Users will have a complete desktop experience thanks to the built-in codecs, Java, and Flash support.

You can download Mangaka Nyu Beta right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that the distro is still in development and has some rough edges. Therefore, we do not recommended installing it on production machines.

The Mangaka developers have announced that there will be another milestone until the final release of the distribution, the Release Candidate (RC) version, is out. At the moment, Mangaka Nyu Beta is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr).
