Google engineers have shown that it's possible to root Google Glass and install Ubuntu, with great ease.

Google I/O, an annual developer conference, has brought a lot of new information, but one session called "Voiding your Warranty" has revealed some pretty interesting facts.

Apparently, it's possible to unlock the bootloader using the fastboot command. Flashing a new boot image will provide root access.

With the help of Android Terminal Emulator and Complete Linux Installer, as described by engadget.com, users will be able to run Ubuntu in no time.

This process is rather standard, which means that, in theory, any distribution can be installed on Google Glass, and even Ubuntu Touch, if Canonical ever bothers to provide the adequate support.

You have to keep in mind that this process has a degree of uncertainty and you could end up bricking your device, and thus voiding the warranty.
