This is not a major update, but it's an interesting one

Google developers have released a new update for the Development branch of the Google Chrome browser and they've made a ton of changes. All of these improvements will slowly be trickled down to the stable iteration of the browser, in a couple of months.

Google Chrome is now at version 42 and the developers are showing no signs that they intend to slow down. They are sticking to their schedule and they don't seem to mind that high version number. It's hard to think where it will end, but the journey there will be fun.

The developers have said that an Audio Modem API has been added, MSAA now works properly when threaded GPU rasterization is enabled, a dedicated SSL protocol version metric has been added, support has been added for tracking which domains trigger app banners, the font weight on ButtonCompat buttons has been fixed, and numerous other changes have been made.

More of these versions should be made available soon and it's very likely that a stable one will also land. Google provides two kinds of binaries for users, DEB and RPM files. There is no source package and users should check the local repositories before installing the application.
