gNewSense 3.1, a completely free GNU/Linux distribution backed the Free Software Foundation that doesn't use any restrictive licenses, is now available for download.

gNewSense 3.1 has been dubbed "Parkes" and its developers are taking pride in the fact that they are only using completely free software and drivers.

According to the changelog, the correct country-specific package repository is now set during the installation, the network-manager package is now included in the Live image by default, and the expert installer no longer suggests to install Debian's non-free repository.

Users can download from an array of DVD images, direct downloads, and netboot images. If you already have the distribution installed, you don't have to do enything special in order to get the update.
