Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, a 3D space arcade title with minimalist graphics developed by Lucid Games and ported on the Linux platform by Aspyr Media, has arrived on Steam for Linux.

The Geometry Wars franchise has many fans and the other games in the series have been very well received until now. This is a classic arcade shooter experience, a genre that's not really hot right now, so it's nice to see it released on the Linux platform as well.

Players will get to experience more than 50 single-player levels, two different playable modes (Adventure and Classic Arcade), 3D grids and over 10 battle modes including Pacifism, King and Claustrophobia, new companions, and competitive leaderboards.

The system requirements for the game might seem a little steep, but they are not that high. Users will need Ubuntu 14.04, an Intel Core 2 Quad or AMD Phenom II X4 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5570, NVidia 260, or Intel HD 4400 video card, and 1 of GB available space.

The developers have also explained that "it's possible for Linux and PC to become out of sync during updates. Within this short time period, Linux users will only be able to play other Linux users."

More details about this game can be found on Steam.
