Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest is a new game in the famous Galcon series developed by Hassey Enterprises, Inc. and is now available for Linux users.

The Galcon games fall into a very different genre that could only be described as swarming. Players control large swarms of ships and they try to overcome the defenses of planets controlled through the same kind of strategy. It might not seem too complicated at first, but the more players enter the map the more challenging it becomes.

"Galcon 2 is a demolition derby in space! Send swarms of ships from planet to planet to conquer the galaxy in this fast paced multiplayer strategy game! Players will join clans, join tournaments, and bet on matches and on themselves to win Galcoins," reads the Steam entry.

To make things even more interesting, Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest is a free game and it can be played by anybody, no matter the platform. Also, the system requirements for the title are pretty low and it shouldn't pose any problems. Users will need at least Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, a 2 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, an OpenGL 2.0 compatible video card, and 256 MB of available HDD space.

More details about this game can be found on Steam.
