Sebastian Dröge announced last evening, June 5, that a new development release of the GStreamer multimedia framework is available for download and testing.

GStreamer 1.1.1 is the first in a series of many testing releases, which will lead to the 1.2.x stable branch of the open source and cross-platform multimedia framework.

Compared to the actual stable release, version 1.0.7, GStreamer 1.1.1 uses a new API and ABI with lots of powerful features, such as GstContext negotiation, sharing and announcing, or the EGL helper library.

GStreamer 1.1.1 also includes new plugins, such as mssdemux for Microsoft Smooth Streaming, dashdemux for the DASH adaptive streaming protocol, bluez for interaction with Bluetooth devices, and openjpeg for JPEG2000 encoding and decoding.

Please read the entire official release announcement for more details about this first development release of the upcoming GStreamer 1.2 multimedia framework.

Download GStreamer 1.1.1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
