Orca 3.12 Beta 1, a free, open source, flexible, and extensible screen reader that provides access to the graphical desktop via speech and refreshable Braille, is now ready for testing.
It works with applications and toolkits that support the Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface (AT-SPI), which is the primary assistive technology infrastructure for Linux and Solaris.
Highlights of Orca 3.12 Beta 1:
• New and uniform spellcheck is now supported and has been implement for Gedit and Thunderbird;
• The live region announcement review keybindings have been fixed;
• A mysterious Brltty crash triggered by Orca has been corrected;
• A sanity check has been implemented as a workaround for a Thunderbird timeout.
Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
