While the last point release of the current stable version of the acclaimed GNOME desktop environment was released a while ago, developers are still updating some of the project's core components.

We can report today that the GNOME Software app got a new maintenance release for GNOME 3.16, fixing several important crashes and bringing various improvements, new dependencies, and updated translations.

According to the attached changelog, GNOME Software 3.16.3 fixes a crash that occurred under the Wayland display server when attempting to install multimedia codecs, as well as a crash that occurred when trying to install RPM packages that don't have a description.

Moreover, a crash in the screenshot loader has been addressed, long package descriptions are now wrapped in the update dialog, network timeouts have been reduced to one minute, the sources dialog has received various enhancements, and the app now avoids scaled-up fonts on displays that don't support HiDPI.

Last but not least, better human readable names are now displayed when the user searches for font scripts, and multiple language translations have been updated. The iso-codes package is now a dependecy. Download GNOME Software 3.16.3 right now from Softpedia.
