GNOME Shell, a user interface that provides functions for the GNOME desktop environment, has just received a new update and is now at version 3.12.2.

The GNOME development is running smoothly and the second update for the 3.12.x branch has been released. Numerous fixes were made in the previous build, but it turns out that the second one is not that big.

The GNOME Shell package is one of the first things a user sees and it's probably the defining feature of the GNOME 3 desktop environment. Most of the fixes or improvements made to this package have a noticeable effect.

According to the changelog, turning off airplane mode now works correctly, empty VPN keyfiles are now handled correctly, setting zero-level in osdWindow has been fixed, and the removal of multiple workspace thumbnails at once is now possible.

Also, the airplane mode menu is no longer insensitive in the lock screen, the keynav for alternatives in AltSwitcher has been fixed, the zombie search providers are no longer showing up, and a number of translations have been updated.

A changelog featuring a complete list of updates and improvements can be found in the official announcement. You can download GNOME Shell 3.12.2 sources right now from Softpedia.
