While GNOME 3.17.2, which is a milestone towards the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment due for release on September 23, 2015, was announced last week, there are still some core components that receive updates as part of this development snapshot.

In this short blog article we talk a little about GNOME Control Center, which has just been updated to version 3.17.2, bringing a feature that we reported on a week ago, namely an automatic brightness switch in the Power section (see the attached screenshot).

Also, the Bluetooth power section will now be automatically hidden when there's no Bluetooth available, and the "When battery power is critical" label has been removed from the Power section because it is no longer configurable by end-users due to the move to UPower 1.0.

Lastly, the gear buttons were rounded, and a crash that could occurred when virtual devices were removed has been prevented in the Network section, and permanent name/command is now respected in custom commands.

GNOME Control Center 3.17.2 is distributed as part of the GNOME 3.17.2 desktop environment if you plan on testing it. Also, you can download the GNOME Control Center 3.17.2 sources right now from Softpedia.
