The GNOME Project unleashed a few minutes ago, September 20th, the immediate availability for download and testing of the Release Candidate version of the upcoming GNOME 3.6 desktop environment.

The RC release is the final piece in the development of the GNOME 3.6 desktop environment, which brings the latest improvements and bug fixes to many core packages, such as Nautilus, Empathy, Epiphany, Evince, Vinagre, GNOME Shell, Brasero, GNOME Online Accounts, GNOME Screenshot, Totem, GNOME Panel, GNOME Contacts, and GNOME Control Center.

That's it with the development of the GNOME 3.6 desktop environment. From here on, only major bugs will be fixed. The final release of GNOME 3.6 will be available in one week, on September 26th, 2012.

Download GNOME 3.6 RC sources right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
