At the beginning of February, we announced that the upcoming GNOME 3.12 desktop environment might be delayed by approximately a week because of the 1.5 release of the Wayland display server.

Apparently, that is not the case and, as Matthias Clasen pointed out, GNOME 3.12 will arrive in time: "Just to clarify some confusion caused by 'news' sites picking up our internal considerations: We've decided to not slip the 3.12 schedule after all. The 3.12.0 release will happen as planned on March 26. For more details on the remainder of th e 3.12 schedule."

The first Beta of GNOME 3.12 has been officially released this weekend, and the release cycle will continue with a second Beta launch at the beginning of March, a Release Candidate (RC) version in mid-March, and will conclude with the final release of GNOME 3.12 on March 26, 2014.
