This is the first development release towards Glib 2.40

The first development release of the upcoming GLib 2.40 libray software for the GNOME 3.12 desktop environment was announced a few days ago.

What's new in GLib 2.39.0? Well, lots of new features were implemented in the following components: GNotification, GSubprocess, GDesktopAppInfo, GSettings, GIO, GKeyFile, GMainContext/GSource, and GObject.

Moreover, Glib 2.39.0 also includes a new gapplication command-line tool, improvements for file monitors, Portability improvements, small API changes and additions, and Unicode support was updated to version 6.3.0.

Last but not least, numerous bugs were squashed and the documentation saw many improvements. More details about this development release of Glib 2.40 can be found in the official raw changelog.
