GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), an application that can be used as a simple paint program or as an expert quality photo retouching program, is now at version 2.8.10.
GIMP releases are few and far between, but the developers do provide a huge number of changes when they release a new version. This is especially surprising because this new update arrives fairly quickly after the previous one.
According to the changelog, the GUI now indicates in the Quit dialog if a file has been exported, shortcuts and hint labels have been added to the close and quit dialogs that make closing and quitting easier and more consistent, and the File->Export menu labels have been renamed to match Save/Save as.
Also, the progress popups are no longer showing when opening many files, the hidden state of docks is now restored in single window mode, and a crash in LCMS plugin if RGB profile was missing has been fixed.
