Frugalware, a general purpose Linux operating system designed for intermediate users (who are not afraid of text mode), has reached version 1.9 RC2 and is now available for testing.

Frugalware 1.9 RC2 has been dubbed Arcturus and is in the works for eight months. The final version should arrive very soon.

Highlights of Frugalware 1.9 RC2 (Arcturus):

• A number of minor issues with the installer have been corrected; • The installer no longer relies on HOSTNAME for determining if it is within the live environment; • Users are now able to skip IPv6 configuration and adding a new user; • A case where a crash happened when the swap filesystem mount path is empty, has been fixed.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. Download Frugalware 1.9 RC2 (Arcturus) right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
