FreeNAS, a free implementation of a minimal FreeBSD distribution, has just reached version 8.3.1 RC1.
FreeNAS 8.3.1 RC1 has introduced a large number of functional changes in comparison with the 8.0.x branch.
Highlights of FreeNAS 8.3.1 RC1:
• The handling of user uploaded SSL certs has been improved, including for certs that require a passphrase; • When upgrading, an offer to save the config file will be shown; • Always use 4K sectors when volume encryption is used; • testdisk and photorec tools have been added to the image.
