The update fixes a critical security problem inherited from Samba

FreeNAS, a free implementation of a minimal FreeBSD distribution, has just reached version 8.0.4-p2

FreeNAS 8.0.4-p2 has an important change that addresses the recent Samba security advisory as well as a security advisory in FreeBSD.

Highlights of FreeNAS 8.0.4-p2:

· Samba has been upgraded to 3.6.5 to address CVE-2012-2011 which is a critical vulnerability. Users must update as soon as possible; · Selecting reboot now causes the screen to turn red during the confirmation dialog, making it clear that operation will affect availability; · Creation the LDAP and NSS secret files when LDAP integration was enabled, is fixed.

FreeBSD can be really touchy with hardware. Please be sure to update your BIOS/BMC firmware when upgrading / installing FreeNAS if you run into OS hang issues.
