Fotoxx 14.09, a free, open source Linux photo editing and collection management program that’s easy to use and install, is now available for download.

The Fotoxx developers provide numerous updates for their application, but not all of them provide huge updates for the application. In fact, most of the new versions just fix various problems reported by the community.

According to the changelog, the focus moves back to the main window after using the [apply] or [next] buttons, both unsaved metadata edits and image edits are now saved, the "no more images" message is now displayed after deleting the last image in the current gallery, additional dialogs now restore previous inputs, a new option to include only the latest version of each image has been implemented, and a new utility function to find and display all duplicate images has been added.

The software is provided only for the Linux platform and the developer has been pretty clear why he chose to release the software only for this operating system.

“Linux (the entire ecosystem) has been suitable for non-geeks since about 2004. It works well, looks good, has superior security and freedom from malware, has thousands of applications covering almost every need, is adequately supported (online forums), and costs nothing,” says the maker of Fotoxx on his website.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can download Fotoxx 14.09 right now from Softpedia.
