David Tavares was happy to announce last week that the first Beta release of the upcoming Pear OS 7 Linux operating system is available for download and testing.

Pear OS 7 Beta 1 fixes several bugs found in the previous development release, adds the official LibreOffice PPA, adds the official wallpaper, fixes some CUPS bugs and locales issues, as well as a minor bug in the Pear OS Software Center app. The system has also been cleaned.

Being powered by Linux kernel 3.5, Pear OS 7 Beta 1 comes with LibreOffice 4.0.1, Pear OS Software Center, MyPear 4, Pear Cleaner 2.1, Pear PPA Manager, On Air, VLC Media PLayer, Mozilla Firefox, Back Time, Geary Mail, Adobe Flash Player, Shotwell, Empathy, Brasero, Cheese and the Notification Center. Download Pear OS 7 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
