As you might already know, the Fedora Project has announced today the immediate availability for download of the highly anticipated Fedora 22 Linux operating system, as reported by Softpedia earlier.

Fedora 22 is distributed in several flavors, including KDE, Xfce, LXDE, MATE/Compiz, Robotics, Scientific KDE, Design Suite, Jam KDE, SoaS, Security, and, of course, Workstation.

In this blog article, we take a closer look at the Fedora 22 KDE Spin of the renowned distribution backed by Red Hat, which comes with the next-generation KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

Besides the beautiful and eye-candy KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, the KDE Spin of Fedora 22 Linux uses the new Breeze theme, KDE Frameworks 5, and the Qt 5 toolkit.

"Plasma 5, the successor to KDE Plasma 4, is now the default workspace in the Fedora KDE spin. It has a new theme called Breeze, which has cleaner visuals and better readability, improves certain work-flows and provides overall more consistent and polished interface," reads the official announcement.

The KDE Applications 4.14.7 software suite will offer you all the KDE apps that you’ve been loving for some many years, including Okular, Dolphin, Gwenview, Amarok, K3b, Dragon Player, KMail, and the entire Calligra office suite.

Under the hood, Fedora 22 KDE Spin has switched to a fully hardware-accelerated graphics stack based on the latest OpenGL(ES) technologies. This release is quite identical with the Beta version of the distribution.

We've prepared an in-depth screenshot tour for your viewing pleasure, which you can see below or by clicking on the header image. Download Fedora 22 KDE Spin right now from Softpedia.
