As expected, the Fedora 17 Linux operating system was announced today, May 29th, by the Fedora Project. This release comes with GNOME 3.4, KDE SC 4.8, and Linux kernel 3.3.4.

Dubbed Beefy Miracle, Fedora 17 comes with great features, such as Firefox 12, OpenJDK 7, GCC 4.7, PHP 5.4, GIMP 2.8, systemd integration, multitouch support, OpenStack Essex, and lots more.

Fedora 17 is distributed as an installable DVD ISO image and Live CDs with the GNOME, KDE, LXDE and Xfce desktop environments.
