Ultimate Edition 3.6, a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, has been released into the wild, breathing new life into this old operating system.

Two other distributions have been released since Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal was made available, so calling it old is not an overstatement.

“Ultimate Edition 3.6 was built from the ground up debootstrapped from the Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal tree.”

“Many repositories have been added to increase software availability. The kernel was pulled from the Xorg "Crack Pushers PPA" 3.7.0-7,” reads the official announcement.

The distribution is also based on MATE 1.6, which means it's going to work on older systems that don't sport powerful hardware components.

More details about this release are available in the official announcement. Download Ultimate Edition 3.6 right now from Softpedia.
