The FFmpeg package, a complete solution to record, convert, and stream audio and video, is now at version 2.1.

FFmpeg has released a large number of changes and fixes, but it's mostly only a maintenance version. As we announced a short while ago, the developers have also managed to implement native HEVC/H.265 decoder support and it's one of the highlights of this release.

Other changes include RTMP seek support, support for reading EXIF metadata from JPEG, DVB teletext decoder, Opus support in Matroska, lossless and alpha support for WebP decoder, native VP9 decoder, ReplayGain scanner, and a lot more.

A complete list of updates and features can be found in the official announcement.

FFMpeg is the leading multimedia framework able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter, and play pretty much anything that humans and machines have created.

You can download FFmpeg 2.1 right now from Softpedia.
