Euro Truck Simulator 2, a game developed by SCS Software in which the players will be able to cross an entire continent at the wheel of a truck, will be launched on Linux.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is part of a very well established genre that relies more on realism than probably most of the games that involve cars, in one form or another.

It’s not sure what prompted the developer to port the game for Linux, but we can safely say that a lot of people will be happy to know that Euro Truck Simulator 2 is going to be available on an open source platform.

Given the fact that the game engine uses OpenGL, it wasn’t really a stretch for the studio to think about other platforms, especially with Steam for Linux almost out the door.

The studio hasn’t specified any precise launch date, but their blog entry seems to suggest that the Linux version of Euro Truck Simulator 2 is just around the corner. If you are interested in the game, you should check its official website.
