Patrick Emmabuntus had the pleasure of informing Softpedia about a new maintenance release of his Emmabuntüs 3 Linux distribution, which is now based on the upstream Xubuntu LTS operating system.

The new release, Emmabuntüs 3 1.01, is based on Xubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr), updates various add-ons for the pre-installed Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Google Chrome applications, and updates the Language Tool within LibreOffice to version 2.8.

“The Emmabuntüs Team is pleased to announce the new Emmabuntüs 3 1.01 (32 and 64 bit) based on Xubuntu 14.04.2,” says Patrick Emmabuntus. “This distribution was designed to be used for refurbishing the computers given to humanitarian organizations, especially Emmaüs communities”

A couple of new applications have been added in this release, such as Minitube for viewing YouTube videos, as well as Smb4k, which can be used for browsing Windows network shares. Moreover, the Calibri font non-installation issues have been fixed.

A new Accessibility category has been added in the Start Menu, which includes the Virtual Glass Magnifier tool, as well as a script that can greatly ease the cursor customization. The keyboard mapping has been fixed to automatically default to the QWERTY layout after installation.

Download Emmabuntüs 3 1.01 right now from Softpedia, where it is distributed for free as two Live DVD ISO images, one for legacy, 32-bit computers, and another one for modern, 64-bit machines.
