OpenBSD, a free, multi-platform BSD-based UNIX-like operating system, which emphasizes portability, standardization, correctness, proactive security and integrated cryptograph, is now at version 5.3.

OpenBSD releases are few and far in between, so when they actually show up, they have an amazing number of changes, updates and features.

Highlights of OpenBSD 5.3:

• New drivers have been added; • The restriction on writing to trunk(4) member interfaces has been relaxed; • IPv6 autoconfprivacy is now enabled by default; • OpenBSD now includes npppd(8); • The dhclient-script has been eliminated; • The divert(4) socket now supports the new IP_DIVERTFL socket option; • UDP support has been added added to sosplice(9); • The log messages have been cleaned up and reduced.
