Skolelinux, a Linux distribution based on Debian, providing an out-of-the box environment of a completely configured school network, is now at version 7.0 Alpha 0.

Skolelinux 7.0 Alpha 0 is based on Debian “Wheezy”. According to the developers, immediately after the installation, a school server running all services needed for a school network, is set up just waiting for users and machines being added via GOsa.

Highlights of Skolelinux 7.0 Alpha 0:

• The desktop environments KDE "Plasma" 4.8.4, GNOME 3.4, and LXDE 4 have been included; • The Web browser Iceweasel 10 ESR has been included; • LibreOffice has been updated to version 3.5.4; • LTSP has been updated to version 5.4.2; • CUPS has been updated to version 1.5.3; • Gimp has been updated to version 2.8.2; • Stellarium has been updated to version 0.11.3.
