The Edubuntu team has announced today, April 25, that the final release of the highly anticipated Edubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) operating system is now available for download.

Just like its big brother, Ubuntu 13.04, the Raring release of Edubuntu comes with the improved Unity 7 user interface, Linux kernel 3.8, Upstart 1.8, LibreOffice 4.0, Mozilla Firefox 19.0, Mozilla Thunderbird 17.0, and Python 3.3.

The default applications of Edubuntu 13.04 are: Klavaro, Krecipes, Gramps, Chemtool, Fritzing, Einstein, Vym, Bluefish and Remmina.

"The Edubuntu team is pleased to announce the release of Edubuntu 13.04 (codename: Raring Ringtail). This release will be supported for 9 months, it is intended for enthusiasts and users who would like to try out the latest and greatest software," the official release announcement read.

Edubuntu 13.04 is distributed as Live DVD ISO images, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. It will be supported with security updates for 9 months, until January 2014.
