Edubuntu, the customized version of Ubuntu for educational use that can be used in the classroom, is now at version 12.10, along with its bigger brothers, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Xubuntu.

Edubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) comes with a great deal of new features and changes, not to mention a lot of new features.

Highlights of Edubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal):

• Stellarium has been dropped in favor of Kstars because Stellarium has OpenGL demands that are hard to meet on ARM devices; • Tomboy has been added again as the default note-taking application; • Language packs have now been moved off from the live image to a pool on the disc; • A new package called 'edubuntu-netboot' has been added, offering functionality previously provided by ltsp-live; • Nepomuk and Akonadi icons are now hidden from menus; • The wallpaper selection has been updated; • Unity was updated to version 6.8;
