Dropbox, a client for an online service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere, is now at version 2.8.4.

The application got a fair number of updates in the development cycle, but nothing of great importance has been implemented since the previous version, not to mention the fact that the Linux platform didn't receive any attention.

According to the changelog, the prompt for selective sync is now provided in the setup wizard for large Dropboxes, auto sign-in installers have been implemented for Windows and Mac OS X, users will receive a notification when the hard disk is full, and some new icons are now available for the tray popup.

The developers have explained that the selective sync prompt is skipped if the user has previously linked the account, which is assumed to be true by the Dropbox application.

Linux users need to know that they don't have access to binary files of the latest Dropbox client, unlike the users of other operating systems. This means that you will only get the source package and you will have to compile it by yourself. The other solution is to wait until it gets integrated into the repositories.
