Linus Torvalds announced yesterday, September 9th, that the fifth Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux 3.6 kernel is available for download and testing.
Linux kernel 3.6 Release Candidate 5 brings some ARM updates, CIFS improvements, and the usual updated drivers, including mmc, sound, video, PCI, networking (both wireless and wired).
"So 3.6-rc5 is out there, and everything is looking fairly calm. Too calm, in fact, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, when Greg finally crawls his way out from under his mailbox after the kernel summit and kayaking.”
“I suspect a few other developers may also have been quiet because of the kernel summit and related travel,” Linus Torvalds said in the email announcement.
Download Linux kernel 3.6 RC5 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it is intended for testing purposes only.
