Today, January 12, Linus Torvalds has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the eight and last Release Candidate of the upcoming Linux kernel 3.13.

Linux kernel 3.13 RC8 comes with the usual updated drivers (mostly for networking), Arch updates (mostyl ARM and parisc), as well as various network updates. The final release should be available at the end of next week.

"Another week, another RC. And things look fine. [...] But nothing particularly scary. The scariest part of this release is how slow my network is, and the patch is still being uploaded, but it should be done any minute now. Or maybe in half an hour. Whatever."

"Let's hope things keep calm, and that I can make the final 3.13 next week when I get back home. But for that all to work well, you guys need to test. Ok?," said Linus Torvalds in the official release announcement.

Download Linux kernel 3.13 RC8 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
