Qt, a cross-platform application and UI framework with APIs for C++ programming, is now at version 5.1.

Qt 5.1 is a major step forward for this project, featuring a huge number of changes and improvements. It launches the same day as Qt 4.8.5, the latest version in the 4.8.x branch.

“It has taken us a little more than 6 months since we released Qt 5.0 end of last year. While we originally planned that Qt 5.1 will mainly focus on bug fixing and stability of Qt 5.0, we have actually achieved a lot more. The release contains a large amount of new functionality in addition to numerous smaller improvements and bug fixes,” reads the official announcement.

Highlights of Qt 5.1:

• Qt now comes bundled with Qt Creator 2.7.2; • A new online installer, which allows for automatic and seamless upgrades, has been implemented; • A new version of the Visual Studio Add-in has been made available; • Qt Quick Controls and Qt Quick Layouts modules finally offer ‘widgets’ for Qt Quick.

A complete list of changes and fixes can be found in the official announcement.
