14 DAY TRIAL // The Debian Release Team, through Niels Thykier, has announced earlier today, March 31, that they have decided to mark the day of Saturday, April 25, 2015, as the release date for the highly anticipated Debian GNU/Linux 8 (codename Jessie) computer operating system.
This is very good news for all Debian fans out there, as they will finally have a new stable operating system on their hand to play with, especially one that brings a great number of features, improvements, and other up-to-date Linux technologies and core components.
“We now have a target release date of Saturday the 25th of April,” says Niels Thykier on behalf of the Debian Release Team. “We have checked with core teams, and this seems to be acceptable for everyone. This means we are able to begin the final preparations for a release of Debian 8 - "Jessie".”
While the date of April 25 has been set today, March 31, it might be possible for it not to be respected if something extremely critical appears in the development cycle of the distribution and cannot be fixed immediately after the release of Debian 8 Jessie, so fingers crossed.
The second Release Candidate (RC) of the Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie) Installer has been announced by Softpedia last week, so you can test it right now by downloading the necessary files from here. Debian 8 Jessie will be one of the greatest updates to the well-known Debian distro, so expect an in-depth release announcement on the day of the release.
