The Debian project announced the immediate availability for download of the ninth maintenance release of the Debian 6 Linux operating system.

Debian 6.0.9 is just a maintenance update for the "squeeze" branch and features no major features and a number of security updates.

“This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the oldstable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available.

Please note that this update does not constitute a new version of Debian 6.0 but only updates some of the packages included. There is no need to throw away old 'squeeze' CDs or DVDs but only to update via an up-to-date Debian mirror after an installation, to cause any out of date packages to be updated,” reads the official announcement.

Check out the complete changelog in the official announcement. You can also download Debian 6.0.9 from Softpedia and update afterwards.
